The biggest reason I believe most people in your situation find gaming better than real life is that, almost exclusively, in gaming hard work/time spent will pay out! In life this isn’t as reliable. You can work hard your entire life but it doesn’t mean you will be rewarded well for it, if at all! hard work is valued IRL, but the correlation is not the same. This ties in also with instant gratification. Which by some definitions can be described as an addiction.
The only thing more impressive than the insults themselves is the horrific disregard for spelling and grammar used to deliver them. There is something bizarrely amusing about having to decode the insult that has been directed at you digitally.
I won’t get into the debate around whether or not people of a certain age should be allowed by their parents to play such games. However, if you throw a tantrum when someone steals your car on a game about stealing cars, you’re probably too young.
Another big reason gaming presents itself to you as the most interesting thing in life is probably because you are letting it dominate your experience. If the only thing you do is play games and weigh that against basic life experiences and needs, you set up a perpetual feedback loop that only reenforces this singular interest. Have you really tried to find other interest? (thinking about it only, doesn’t count, and trying something once also doesn’t count) How do you know that you wouldn’t enjoy rock climbing? making art, writing articles, doing group activities, etc. if you don’t try it or gain enough experiences to be able to judge the value of such an activity for yourself?
